In a an unholy alliance between the supporters of Northampton Saints and Leicester Tigers, rugby fans have a chance of winning a framed rugby shirt, signed and presented to the lucky winner by Martin Johnson himself!
The ultimate winner will, of course, be the British Heart Foundation, a cause that is supported by an annual charity fund raising event by the followers of Northampton Saints. The main event is an 11 mile walk through and around the town of Northampton and this year every Zurich Premiership club is expected to be represented. |
Last year, the readers of the Saint's 'Come On You Saints' and Leicester's 'Theleicestertigers.co.uk' took part in a little friendly competition playing on the rivalry between the two clubs; each site having to raise as much money as possible in five days - the winners had the right to demand that one of the walkers, ajack, should do the sponsored walk in a Leicester or Northampton shirt. After a nail-biting finish, it was declared that the Tiger's supporters had raised the most, and true to his word, ajack did his 11 mile 'walk of shame' in a Tigers shirt. The total raised in those five days was just in excess of £1500! |
This year, in an effort to raise more money for the British Heart Foundation, the Leicester Tigers have kindly donated a framed shirt, signed and presented to the winner by Martin Johnson! |
| So, how do you go about getting in on the action? |
There is a raffle currently being run on the independent Tigers supporters webs site, follow this link http://www.sportnetwork.net/boards/read/s103.php?f=106&i=104985&t=104985&sid=103 . All you need to do is follow this link and go to the thread that has been set up on the main message board, pledge some money between £10 and £50, and hey presto, you are in! |
| £10 gets you 1 chance in the draw, £20 gives you 3 chances, £30 gives 5 chances, £40 gives 7 chances of winning and £50 gives you 10 chances in the raffle. |
The only condition is that the winner agrees not to sell the shirt unless it is to raise funds for a recognised charity. But who in their right mind would want to sell a signed Jonno shirt? Just under £500 was pledged by Tigers supporters in the first few days of announcing this superb prize! The present total stands at £760. The British Heart Foundation needs all of our support and I am sure that we would all want to help our fellow rugby fans, even if they are Saintanists, to raise as much money as possible for such a worthy cause. Yu would be hard pushed buy a new rugby shirt these days for less than £50, let alone one signed by living legend, Martin Johnson! And you could win with just a single pledge of £10. |
