What is Limiting the Success of this Tigers Team?

Eight Premiership Finals in a row makes Tigers the most consistent team in England over the last eight years but only three wins hints at a glass ceiling that is limiting the success of the team. Results in the European Cup also show a marked decline over the eight year period.
In the second part of this article I will discuss this glass ceiling. Is it real. If real, what causes it and what changes might Tigers make to break it. If changes are made, what risks might that bring (think Wasps)? Is it all a phase whilst the French run out of money (think Italy and soccer)?
However, before I plot world domination for Welford Road, it is worth wondering why a team from the 10th largest city in the UK and from one of the smaller counties of England, has come to dominate rugby in England in the way that Tigers do (just ask a fan of any other premiership side). Leicestershir CCC are spectacularly failing to dominate the county chnapionship and Leicester City seem stuck in the second tier, so why do the Tigers dominate?
The answer lies in a strong historical tradition of playing rugby in the city and county, the visionary appointment of Chalkie White as coach, some astute decisions when professionalism was introduced to English rugby and the maintenance of a club ethos which is down to many but the man at the top was Peter Wheeler.

You raise an interesting point about decisions taken around the move to professionalism. A massive credit must go for the things we decided not to do.
Our key issues are around our expectations and caused in the main by an even playing field in England, uneven in Europe.

Thanks Rex - I take the point re the reasons for 'domination' but I look forward to your thoughts on what has inhibited a better return on that dominance in terms of metal.

It is interesting, given this weekend's big sporting event, to compare our concerns with those of Leeds Rhinos in the other code.
I have a colleague who is a Rhinos fan and is fearful of what may be imminent (yet again) but views the play-offs with glee.

There use to be boards in the Tiger Room with Internationals, Captains etc. I thought the most significant was the one the fewest names, that was the Secretaries (today's equivalent is Chief Executive)
They have generally been in office for ling periods which delivers the stability that has encouraged the club to develop and grow.
Tom Crumbie seems to have set the standard, Wheelbrace is IMHO the modern day equivalent, the man part of a great team that has driven the club during the professional era to date.
Just may be we should name a Stand after him.

The new club house stand will need a name, but I suspect that it will be sponsored by a Company ?
We also owe a lot to John Allen's views regarding shamateurism and professionalism.
