The merry month of May

When we get to the end of the season I usually have a mixture of emotions:- relief, disapointment and frustration are often prominent. This last season was different as we ended it on a high despite missing out on the play-offs. The following month proved to be quite a good one!

At the end of April our season finished. Our players all went off on holiday. However the rugby was not over. Bristol,LS, Titans and Wuss fought out the playoffs. The two legged final was a thriller. We were entertained albeit without the elation or disappointment reserved for the combatants. Marvellous.

In the meantime our new coach, having had time to take a good look at the squad, got busy. He had stated that he wanted to retain as many of the squad as possible. With three notable exceptions he was successful. In the background it was becoming apparent that Chris Gibson had been obtaining the players that Brush wanted to strengthen his squad for the coming season. Following Andy Saull into LS6 was  a procession of players with premiership experience. The last signing was the biggest of them all, Rob O'Donnell - all 6' 3" 19 stone of him, from Worcester.

Pre-season training has  now started and the lads have twelve weeks to bond and get ready for the coming campaign. We have set  our sights high with a top two finish the target. Whether we achieve that is open for debate but one thing is certain. May has been a good month for us.

Good article

This off-season already seems to have gone on forever and still a long way to go.

Very much looking forward to next year but fairly sure my heart wouldn't stand us being in a final like the Bris/Wuss one..........

We won't be.... because we'll be clinical and no way so error prone or desparate.

We have acquired some very experienced players. They will bring that to bear when it is most needed - at the business end of the season.
