By COYS Ltd Directors
August 11 2013
As you will all know, ComeOnYouSaints.Com has been asked to put forward up to 3 members of The Saints Supporters' Liaison group. This is an experiment, and is aimed at creating a dialogue between the club and it's supporters. It is anticipated that supporter representation will come from the membership of the SSC, COYS, Season Ticket Holders and Corporate sponsors.
The board sponsor is Ella Bevan and it will be led by her, assisted by Brian Facer and Chris Wearmouth on behalf of the club management team. This group is NOT a decision making body, but is designed to provide advice and be a sounding board on issues that the constituent members will bring forward. (For instance the whole subject of Association Membership is one area that we could see being a topic for discussion). The group will meet 3 times a year, and will feed into the proposed Season Ticket Forum, which it is intended will meet twice a year. Being a season ticket holder is NOT a prerequisite for membership of this group. The scope of the group's discussions is expected to cover all off-field activity, including pre and post match events, away trips, visiting supportersexperiences and community events. It is intended that initially the term of representation will be 12 months.
The COYS representation will be from members of the COYS message board on Sportnetwork, with at least 3 months standing. If you wish to nominate yourself for election, please send a mail to slg@comeonyousaints.com with the following:
Name
Board Name
No more than 100 words outlining what you believe you could bring to the SLG on behalf of COYS and supporters in general.
Closing date for nominations is 31st August 2013, and the election will run for 2 weeks at the beginning of September, and the first meeting is expected to be at the end of September.

Could be a close run thing this.

And tambourineman, as someone with friends who have suffered at the hands of that monster, I find your remark quite tasteless.

Phil, as you probably know someone on SFO has already suggested that idea. The more I think about it the less appealing it becomes. Firstly I'm not sure I could offer as much as some of the other, shall we say "more forceful" personalities on either site. Secondly, after the latest incidents of closing the iffy (great autocorrect there) and changing the AM to the new Saints Nation Membership I'm really not convinced the club are going to or take any suggestions from supporters seriously. I hope I'm wrong on this but the feeling of disconnection between supporter and club has probably increased in the last month if I'm any judge which ironically makes this role even more important I just don't think the club believes this. Sorry.

Well, this isn't much fun is it?
If anyone else out there is thinking of putting their name forward, some of the posts above will probably have put them off. A bit of support would be nice for this initiative.
Rest assured that if the Club doesn't pay sufficient heed to the input from the SLG it won't last very long as we won't be able to support its continuance. However, if it does work, great and maybe, just maybe, in future years it will be seen as a "Good Idea"
So, let's at least try it. No one will be injured if it doesn't work but if/when it does, happy days.

This all makes me very sad indeed. This is hardly representative of the supporters group as a whole.
What a difference between what we believed Leon to be saying and how it has turned out.
Can anyone point to any developments over the recent past that have actually followed a line described by "unhappy" supporters?

I assume you were referring to my reasons why I would not be nominating myself Stockers. I quite agree that they can be viewed as negative and I also agree that trying something is better than trying nothing. I was however expressing my personal reasons for not putting myself forwards as Phil asked. I'm not decrying the initiative in the least and good luck to it,I hope I am proved wrong by the club and whoever is nominated to represent the supporters. Please ignore my cynicism.

Longers,
The initiative championed by Leon is very, very important in my view hence why this group is important and should be supported.
The recent change in Associate Membership status is a classic example of why the SLG is needed.

Longers,
You have eruditely explained why we as supporters should be trying to make this Liaison Group work.
Will it?
I suppose that depends on two things - the desire of both parties to make it work.

I got a reply from some faceless entity eventually through Facebook, telling me that I should have written to Brian Facer, since he was on the board.

I'd consider putting myself forward but despite the large number of posts I "post", no-one knows me as despite hardly missing a home game for about 5 years and doing a good few away ones too I've been pretty outspoken on here in the past.

We could argue the toss about this all day and it still wouldn't alter anything. It's a crock of DooDoo and we all know it.

It's also my opinion that you seek to justify your actions. Why might that be? Are you having second thoughts?

No, but if one of his Board Directors did (and in this case probably 2)
I think our CEO pays only lip service to supporter issues. I suspect that, given the replacements coming onto the Board this is a situation that will not continue.
The E in CEO is executive. I would rather speak with the Chairman who usually carries more weight, but not necessarily in the sense of Elephants mating (Very heavy done at a high level accompanied by a lot of noise).

Gwendoline,
Come join us on the terrace. I paid less than half of £600 and I don't need to clean my tiny patch of concrete. Don't drink because once you leave to go to the loo you'll soon regret it!
Had you only just notice programmes are a rip off? We have been complaining about "the new food outlets" for over a season now. Eat elsewhere is my advice. Don't give them the choice, you choose. If you choose Saints for food and drink, well incorrect choice IMHO.
I think it's good value to be honest. Less than £300 for a ST and no other "in ground" spending. The CEO can..........

Its about communication, which hopefully would be addressed by the title of this thread

but if we don't give it a go we'll never know
