Kenya Cup: Game 11: Quins' Hopes Dashed

Disaster struck as our 2005 Kenya Cup dreams went up in smoke after a 14 -8 home loss to perennial rivals IMPALA. Painful as it was, the loss virtually guaranteed Impala the league championship. A very youthful team took the pitch against the Red Shirts that fateful Saturday. Missing were Captain Ed Kinyany and other regulars Sid Obonyo, Sid Ashioya, Felix Ochieng, Kiragu Ngunya, Vincent Ongera who were all nursing injuries while Eddie Odhiambo did a Houdini and never showed up the whole week.

Impala scored two quick tries and then defended for their lives to take a 14-3 lead at halftime. Tito Oduk landing Quins only points in the first half. A furious Quins started the second half looking for the win but wrong option taking from the inexperienced youthful side saw Quins only manage one try in the second half. Impala hung on for their dear lives to snatch the win that we all thought belonged to Quins. Poor refereeing was no excuse either but this one slipped through our hands after dominating the whole season from the beginning. Only consolation will be to win the knockout Enterprise Cup. Semi Final game this weekend versus Impala (again). Lets rise up to the occasion and win.

The seconds did us proud by winning their first leg ESS semi 13 -10 against Mombasa. They need to do the same in a fortnights time in Mombasa during the second leg. We wish them well.

See you Saturday and this time Impala must go down!
