After last Saturday’s closely fought game against CCFC, Future Hope Harlequins made several changes as they easily beat the Sergeant’s Institute 60 points to nil. Future Hope Harlequins had trained in monsoon conditions the previous day and were glad therefore to play in sunshine and only moderate heat (35 degrees) as the ran in ten tries against the Sergeant’s Institute (a part of Kolkata Police).

The game started well and early pressure soon told with Future Hope Quins taking an early lead. From this the superior fitness and organisation told with the half time score at 29 – 0.

At half time more changes were made and young players were blooded, some making their senior rugby debut. One or two errors crept in due to poor organisation, but this was soon rectified and the game finished 60 -0.

Quins Development Officer Nick Hyde said “the team has worked very hard since the CCFC game; however the SI result perhaps slightly flattered us. We have really focused on organisation and decision making in the past few sessions, and the boys were a bit disappointed at some their own performances…we had to remind them that 60 – 0 is still 60 – 0!”

At the semi final stages Future Hope Harlequins will take on either the Kolkata Police or the self styled ‘blacks’ – La Martiniere Old Boys.
