Rugby needs characters but sadly we are about to say goodbye to one of the most colourful. Joe Marler will play his last game for Quins at the Stoop on Friday night as Bristol Bears arrive for the resumption of the Gallagher Premiership.

It will be his 286th club game and we  look forward to the drop goal which will end a glittering career.

Joe will run out with a host of players returning from international duty - notably Dino Lamb, Will Porter, Alex Dombrandt,  Cadan Murley, Luke Northmore, Oscar Beard and Rodrigo Isgro. However, Marcus Smith and Chandler Cunningham-South are not in the squad after their exertions for England.

It's astonishingy that as we end November pnly six league games have been played with Bristol in fopurth place with 24 points, having won four and lost two, while Quins are in fifth with 18 points from their three wins.
