“With Pride” – The Official Rugby for Heroes World Cup Anthem 2011 - Song Launch for Rugby & Military Charity. This is the launch of the first charity song for Rugby for Heroes. The charity was established earlier this year and is growing from strength to strength.

The Patron of the charity is England Rugby International and Captain, Mike Tindall. Mike has endorsed the charity since its inception along with several other Premiership team players. 

The song and video were recorded and filmed at Twickenham Stadium in July with their kind permission. The Military are featuring heavily in the recording of both the song and the video; the choirs along with serving personnel from across all forces were in attendance. They appeared side by side with players from the Rugby Premiership.

The song is featuring at a growing number of events throughout, including military, rugby union and rugby league. Forthcoming events include:-

• 3^rd September 2011 – LIVE at The Double Header at Twickenham
• 4^th September 2011 – Northampton v Gloucester

Does this charity work with others - like the Red Poppy?

I had a really interesting chat with my brother in law the other day. He's had a lifelong career in the millitary (25 years in the British Army and currently in his 10th year with the Australian Army). It really shocked me when he said that almost everyone he knows in the military - officers and other ranks, is incredibly uncomfortable with the sweeping use of the 'heroes' moniker.

He says that there's strong feeling that overusing 'heroes' like this detracts from genuine examples of 'heroism' in the field.

A difficult one - really made me think.

When I heard it was a "pop" song, I thought of X Factor rubbish immediately. I went to the site Prof kindly provided for us and was hit by the normal "American" type singing accent. I was, however, interested enough to give all 4 minutes a listen and found myself singing along. It has my thumbs up and will go to iTunes and buy it - with pride!!!
