Compliments of the season. 2007 is here and already things are looking hectic. The Quins Dinner was held on Saturday 20th January 2007 at the Clubhouse and it was indeed well attended by players and members. The guest for the evening was Edwin Obuya (former Patch, Mean Machine, Barclays, Kenya, Mombasa and 1-day Quin) who gave a very a very inspirational talk especially to the younger members of the rugby playing fraternity especially on the virtues of commitment to the game of rugby. Big thanks to Obuya. Ken Thimba gave an equally exhilarating response, which had the congregation begging for more, and Siganga begging him to stop.

A well-attended event that saw past chairmen Joe and Ham Onsando in attendance and Captain Edward Oloo Kinyany step down after two years at the helm. His last duty was awarding the captains badges and a call to the team to emulate the players who are both in Quins and in the national teams in order to reach the top and succeed. Among the notable players who received the captains badges was Njuki Kamundia.

The Chairman Gabriel Ouko announced that Quins would be going on tour in 2008 to South Africa on yet another pilgrimage. All are welcome and the onerous task of co-ordinating the tour and ensuring that it is a viable financial venture was put on the shoulders of Kimani Andrew Kimani. The tour is scheduled for early 2008 and details of the planning committee as well as the tour plans will be released by Kimani Kimani Andrew or Andrew Kimani Kimani. Kimani is always at the counter and so is easily accessible. We eagerly await and all are welcome. The last tour was in 2004. Start putting money aside and looking for sponsors. (Ham, please get flight details!!!)

Most Valuable Player 2006 = Daniel ‘Moi’ Kiptoo

Honours Cap 2006 = Geoffrey ‘Mzee Dar’ Anampiu

Honours Cap 2006 = Peter ‘Slide Majembe’ Ocholla

Congratulations to the above for the deserved awards.

With Captain Oloo (Edward Kinyany) stepping down, the Chairman after late night consultations with the committee (Sohos, Psys, Intercon, Serena, Dolce, Club Afrique, D’Mills) decided that it was time to name the new player management for 2006 for the first team. (Second team and Quins Kweens will require more consultation).

Deputy Captain = Amos ‘Usi Mind’ Agiro

Congratulations to the 3 gentlemen entrusted with the Captaincy. The coach 15’s has not been fired and is expected to continue from where he left off. He however can call up anyone (Gordon Anampiu, Ken Thimba) he needs to assist him.

Thanks to all those who contributed to the dinner. Your assistance was highly appreciated.

Good luck to the Quins players who are in the 7’s national team going to Wellington and San Diego for the IRB 7’s. These are Ian Namcos Simiyu (7’s Captain, Felix Ochieng, Allan Onyango and Sidney Ashioya. All the best.

News of an exit. Former Captain Paul Odera has left Quins and has joined Nondies as an assistant Coach. We wish him all the best and thank him for the service that he gave during his years at the club as a player, captain and coach. (Not forgetting………………..).

The club needs you all so read below and get back into the groove.

Training days are Monday to Sunday with pitch trainings on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The Gym is open everyday so take advantage of it, while veterans continue training on Sundays from 12pm under the Captainship of Mzee Dar (Geoff Anampiu).

AGM notice will be sent out ASAP.

Bring in new members as well and let them know Quins is the place to be.
