Kenya Harlequins Update 12/10

National Sevens Kings 'Kenya Harlequin' retained their Driftwood Sevens title in style when they thrashed neighbours Impala 27-7 in a very very very one-sided final putting the ghosts of the previous weekend in Kisumu away. Quins started the tournament by thumping Strathmore, KCA and Kenya Poly to finish top of their pool having conceded only one try on day 1. The following day saw Quins dismiss Blak Blad in the quarter-finals where they next faced KCB in the semi. KCB tried their best to stop Quins but they succumbed with Sidney Ashioya leading from the front. Impala were next in the final and they threw in the towel from the first minute. Quins scored at will with Ashioya, Sudi, Abuoga and Kinaro outstanding.

The rest of the weekend was celebrated in true Quins fashion and there were many tired bodies by the beach. The victorious Quins were Sidney Ashioya (c), Peter Abuoga, Leon Adongo, Kennedy Gikaru, Tony Mutai, Felix Ochieng, Dan Ngonga, Joel Kinaro, Victor Sudi, Joash Odhalo, Amos Agiro and Tim Lee Muraguri.

Special mention to all the Quins fans who were down at the coast, some of whom came back only yesterday. Philip 'Phildog' Jalango deserves special mention for providing the Quins team with kit bags, water bottles and t-shirts for this trip. Also providing t-shirts were forthcoming 2006 Christie 7's sponsor MOTOROLA.

This coming weekend sees the 3rd leg of the circuit which is the Kabeberi Sevens. Quins will be out to win this one as they currently lie second in the standings behind KCB. Pools are below:
