Our first game of the season, away at Leicester, is a 29 - 19 defeat. Views are mixed about our prospects for the rest of the season. An Ed’s Diary – 15th September 2003

Very disappointing first game of the season, Leicester beat us 29 – 19. The first half seemed ok, we went in all square at 9 – 9. Somehow in the second half we seemed to lose things. Our lineout which had been good until that stage fell apart and we conceded a lot of turnover ball.

Reaction on the messageboard seems to vary from Maries, ‘We were awful, I’m worried about the season now’ to Bisach’s ‘There are a lot of positives we can take from this game. As long as Gary and Paul get to work on the problem areas we should be ok. Our first home game of the season is against Gloucester this Sunday. They beat Rotherham comfortably on Saturday. Let’s hope we have our act together in time for that.

There has not been a whisper on the board about the LISC AGM. Reports have reached me that it was not the most orderly or enjoyable of nights. Before the meeting There were fifteen people standing for the twelve committee places. Now I learn that there are fifteen committee members. The constitution was changed so as not to have a specific number of committee members and was eventually accepted on the night as boredom set in. The current size of the committee seems way too large to me given the size of the organisation. That said there are some good people on it, let’s hope they can drive the club forward.

This weekends game has been designated by the club ‘Return of the Craic’. The band is to be outside in the same way as it was for the St. Patricks day game. There appears to be enough interest for a car park party so we set about organising one. We may be down after Saturdays result but we can still party!
