As the first Zurich Premiership game of the season approaches, the new approach of the LI marketing department continues to impress.
An Ed’s Diary – 11th September 2003
Yesterday, out of the blue, I got a call from Ken Armstrong (The Pub Landlord). He wanted to warn me that the mailing for the dinner dance had gone out with the Sunbury Centre’s URL on it but not The Craic’s. He assured me that this was cock up rather than conspiracy. I have no doubt that this was the case and drop a mail to Griff and Subtel advising them so.
The club’s marketing department really do seem to have got their act into gear. The team for our first game of the season against Leicester was announced yesterday. Shortly after the announcement a Blarney ezine arrived in my inbox with the details and other information that had only just gone onto the offy website. After years of poorly run official web sites it is great to see the medium being used properly. Full credit to all those involved.
With the LISC AGM imminent I post a long message, mostly about the constitution but also raising the issue of where the LISC base their events. Given the number of handbags that had been flying last week I was a tad concerned before I posted it that this might stir up another hornets nest. As it happened my concern was misplaced, a reasonable debate ensues.
The team picked for the Leics game has Tofty at number 10 with Barry on the bench. We also see the debut of Nils Mordt an academy player. This will no doubt be a big day for him, I hope all goes well. I get the impression that we will have quite a lot of travelling support there. The coach is full and quite a few are travelling by car. It is very encouraging to see how the travelling support is growing.
For this game I’m at home. I’ve registered with a new sms service, bigfoot.com, and have thus far (Thursday morning) got a list of six people who want text updates of the score.
Another sign that the season is starting, yesterday was our fist 10k plus day for over a month. Seems like people, I include myself here, are getting excited.
