A Big Bath - Match Preview

All to play for

We briefly return to Premiership action over the next two weekends. Our first home league fixture of the year is against our old rivals, Bath. A Big Bath LI have beaten Bath in our last three outings against them. Having taken so many years to slay the Rec. Premiership bogey it was very sweet to beat them for the second time in a row there, something we achieved with our 17 - 21 victory at the beginning of November.

Bath have had a real Jekyl and Hyde season thus far. They have scored notable victories against the likes of Leicester, Sale and Wasps but have gone down to 'lesser' opposition in between.

We can also take heart from the fact that they have had a dreadful time on the road thus far this season, losing all six of their away fixtures thus far. Currently, having played one game more than us, they sit one position and four points ahead of us in the premiership table.

Poor though Bath may have been thus far this season, to stand any chance of winning this we'll need to step up a gear or two from the quite simply abysmal performance we put on when we last took to the field at Saracens. If for no other than that reason I expect to see a few changes in the starting line up.

Whoever loses this match could well find themselves embroyled in (yet another) relegation dogfight. Let's pray that it is not us.
