In the old days a game with three red cards would have been a right bloodbath. In these chastened times they were correctly delivered in an even tempered game by referee Craig Maxwell-Keys. He had no choice as the game looks to protect players and attract the youngsters who will make up the next wave. For the record Tigers fully deserved their 27-8 victory.
The cards were for "technical offences" in that there was nothing malicious about them -simply players going too high with no intent to damage the opponent. Tackles must be lower and pretty soon will be.
The first was for Tigers No. 8 Wiese who came in to clear a ruck and made contact with his shoulder to Ben Morris's head. Then Kieran Brookes' shoulder made contact with the head of lock Tomas Lavanini -both teams were down to 14 men for most of the second half.
In the last minute Josh Bassett leapt to try to take a floated pass but was taken out by Liebenberg in the air - a slighty early bath.
In between all that we struggled for control and possession rarely crossing the gain line.
