Can someone please think of something to say ... otherwise you have to put up with this rubbish again.
So it's been the demise of the Club; the dearth of a new Owner; the injuries to the squad; the depths of despair; .... sounds like a normal week in RecentWaspieLand.
Rallying cries from the excellent Mr Larham of that parish has re-focused everyone after a chilling display of (alleged) refereeing incompetence by Mr Pearson against Exeter, and the usual gloom mongerers have been doing five rounds with the rosy glassed brigade.
So if you were a prospective punter, how much of the small fortune that Steve Hayes has invested in Wasps over the last few years (because, although his gamble of making a fortune on the backs of a Wasps Nest in HW has failed, he did have to make the investment to keep the show on the road and viable) would you be prepared to give him to take it off his hands?
It has always amazed me how strong businessmen don't seem to look at the balance sheet or the P&L when they buy a sports club of any kind.
So other thought for the day: will Dixie start writing posts about how many Russian players we have in the side denying places to our young academy lads if we get a truckload of roubles deposited in the Vere Suite?
With all that has been going on lately I have been thinking about the people who make postings and how much we know them. It seems to me that when you are at a live game most (maybe not all, but the majority) people get on and there is some friendly banter and it doesn’t matter if the fans are like minded or opposition. People can have different opinions and discussions and remain friendly over a beer or two.
As soon as people put pen to paper, so to speak, the vitriol starts. In terms of pre- judging people I have to admit I am probably as bad as anyone and as soon as I see ‘thread by’ or ‘last post by’ I automatically pre-judge with:
1. Oh god it’s the kn0b
2. This one will be gloom and doom and overly pessimistic
3. This one will be rose tinted and everything is rosy
4. The dripping tap is back
5. Oh at last an intelligent posting
and all this without reading the post or knowing anyone.
When people starting putting things in writing we should just use the old rule don’t write what you wouldn’t say to someone’s face and it would be a much friendlier site. You never know some of the old posters may even come back.
I can’t promise not to pre-judge but I will try not to bite.
Kev-Surprised I never got a mention. I was waiting! However that was the old me and the new revitalised me is nothing but positive! Might make Dave my life coach!!
