 Those of you who tried to look at the message board this afternoon will have seen a message saying the site needed updating, please try again later. Unless I have missed something I reckon this is the first time this has happened for a long time. It is a reminder that the site needs stories to stay alive.

Sportnetwork survives because of advertising. To assure the advertisers who pay for us to enjoy this facility, each and every Sportnetwork site, from rugby to Formula 1 has to be updated with a new story every 2 weeks or so. Just posting messages on the message board isn't enough, somebody has to post up a story to show the site is still of interest to somebody. This confirms that the sites are active & being maintained, that somebody is paying attention. If nobody makes the effort to update the site, then the computer says no & it shuts down.

This is not a problem during the season, with games almost every weekend there are always previews, reports, and other articles to write, and we are blessed with having our very own Leipy to supply not just lots of articles, but top quality stuff it is too. During the summer months however it is a different story, or should I say a lack of stories. I was supposed to have updated our helpful information pages over the summer which would have helped, but this would take several hours which I just haven’t had due to the inconsiderate British economy livening up & customers keeping me unreasonably busy. As a result the date at which the site needed updating crept up furtively, silently, and quietly closed us down.

What would help to avoid this happening is if some of you wags out there would put fingers to keyboards and rattle off some articles, stories or whatever nonsense that would entertain the natives during the summer months. It can take Leipy or myself ages to think up something & get it typed, often time that we just don’t have, but if we have something already written it doesn’t take long to paste it onto the site. There have been some cracking stories supplied by the regulars & not so regulars on the message board, hugely entertaining & a nice change from the usual, so if anybody feels inspired to wax lyrical, please PM either myself or Leipy, and your offerings will be much appreciated.

Hi Monkey, could you elaborate on what you mean by 'a story'? How is it different to posting? Etc.
I really appreciate our forum and would be very disappointed if we lost it.

A story is something we can post up here as an article, something that stands alone such as my story above about needing stories. Posting is different, just putting a comment on the message board for others to add to.
