Epi On The Wing

Winger

Epi will be on the wing against Grenoble - who says Falcons don't listen to their supporters! The popular Tongan has been earning praise from the TV boys ... and some pundits ... for his eye-catching bullocking runs from the back row. But he is still learning how to be a proper flanker.

He loses the ball too often in contact and his positional and tackling skills still need honing.

It's simpler game on the wing where he can create some terror and where he can be more effective.

Falcons won't be naming the full side until Sunday, but Epi's move on his return from injury makes it look like Hugh Vyvyan may be set for a spell in the back row.

Its been our biggest problem area this season but, by all accounts, the improved performance in Grenoble stemmed from there.

Hamilton is a very able understudy in the second row, but Rob is keeping his options open as to whether Epi eventually returns to the back row or not.

Jonny Wilkinson will be playing against Grenoble mainly because we are short of anyone else to play there. He's our only name in the England training squad but that is little surprise with Walder out with a broken leg. Noon and Stephenson may have been considered but are not quite there at the moment.
