After the first day of the season, it’s the most exciting day of the year – the day the Premiership fixtures are published! Today we discovered that our Falcons will get an early chance to avenge our only defeat away to Leeds last March in September when the Guinness Premiership season begins with a visit to Headingley to face the newly-promoted Cardigans.

The new fixtures show Salbania as our first visitors for the third successive season, before Geoff Parling and his Tiggers host the Falcons for what is always a loud and popular away trip.  Home games against Harlequins and Saracens round off the first set of Premiership games. 

The computer has handed us a local derby at Christmas when Leeds come north, and there is the possibility of spending New Year’s Day on the epic trek that is the walk from the bus stop to Adams Park as we visit Wasps. 

Wasps at home completes a difficult run-in, also including home matches against Leicester and visits to Sale, Quins and Saracens. 

Fixture dates for the Anglo-Welsh Cup and details of our clashes with Albi, Montauban and Petrarca Padova in the European Challenge Cup are still to be confirmed, as are indeed exact Premiership dates and times, but here is the rough fixture list as we have it (all competitive games are listed as Saturday, but are on the weekend of):

The last six games look like a pretty tough run-in although one of the Leicester games must be at home. Let's hope the Falcons don't need too many points from them.

Why do we have 4 consecutive away games in the run in, before one last home game? That hardly seems fair. That means that we have no home Prem game for 2 months between 6th March against Bath and the last match on 8th May v Wasps. What the hell is that all about?!

Ah...I was fooled by the fact that it says "Leicester (A)" and made the rash assumption that this meant it was an away game - but you're right there is another Leicester away in September, so the April one is presumably meant to be at home, thanks.

Why doesn't it look like we'll be on tv much? Sky flex their programming depending on how the season is going - if we're shoite they won't show us as often.

I'd rather they showed our away games than home ones - then if I can't get to a match (Sale and other ********* Friday night matches) I can still see it. Much as I love Kev and Smithy listening on the radio is agony!

As we have seen year after year, the published schedule is still open to a thorough rotavation by Murdoch's people, and any of those dates could change.

I predict an away game that is at least 6 hours away will be resceduled for a lunchtime Saturday KO, totally screwing up the chances of supporters to get there. Last season I believe Murdoch did this for the Barf game.
