Bergsson: Legend

The Icelandic Football Association has ruled out an international return for Wanderers veteran Gudni Bergsson, much to the dismay of Icelandic supporters. Many in Iceland called for former captain Bergsson to be called up for their next game after West Bromwich Albion defender Larus Sigardsson was thrown out of the squad after an incident in a nightclub following Iceland's 2-0 home defeat to Scotland on Saturday.
However, a defender currently playing in Iceland was called up instead of Bergsson who had huge public backing to return for his homeland.
Bergsson has been in the international wilderness since an argument over flights prior to a game against Spain in 1997 meant the IFA has told coaches not to pick Bergsson.
