Liam Plunkett has been called up to the England test squad for the forthcoming tour of Pakistan. Plunkett who was already in the one day squad replaces the injured Simon Jones. Plunkett joins Paul Collingwood and Steve Harmison who also feature in both tour parties.
Plunkett admits that the extent of his expectations for this winter was a place in the National Academy and was surprised to be named in the one day squad last month.
Plunkett will now be leaving for Pakistan much earlier than expected as he departs with the test squad before the end of the month and stays there until just before Christmas.
Liam is realistic about his chances of actually playing for England but is positive that the experience alone will be incredibly valuable.
"Even if I don't get to play in a Test match while I'm in Pakistan I'll learn so much from being around such a quality group of players," he said.
