The ECB announced the one-day squad for the summer internationals and no doubt with one eye on preparing a squad for the next world cup. Harmy was the only Durham player named in the squad, with Collingwood unavailable through injury. After missing out in the World Cup despite been in the squad, Harmison has been a lot more consistent with the ball so far this Summer and hasn't had the problems with extras that have made him overly expensive for the one-day game.

Harmison will be competing for places with James Anderson and Darren Gough who has been recalled to the squad after recovering from his long term knee injury. Harmy will no doubt be eager to get as much advice from Gough as possible to cement his place in the team.

Collingwood will no doubt be eager to fight for a place in the squad for the winter tours and his experience in the previous World Cup should give him the edge over newcomers Anthony McGrath and Rikki Clarke. But if this swuad does well during the Summer then it may be difficult to break it up to include the likes of Colly and Craig White who is also missing through injury. Hopfully Colly will come back strongly before the end of the season to stake his claim for a place.

When the ECB started talking about looking at new youngler players to take the squad forward and with Ros Marsh the academy director now on the selection panel I was hoping that one of the Durham youngsters like Peng or Muchall might get a look in but I guess that they need to prove themselves a bit more yet.
