Michael Schumacher knows that after extensive testing during the off season, whether or not it was enough will be revealed in Bahrain. Although he is confident, Schumacher is not making any bold predictions for the rest of the season until Ferrari shows what it can do this weekend. First, this is what the 7-Time World Champion had to say about whether testing in Bahrain was useful or not:
"For sure, testing here in Bahrain has been useful, but it is difficult to quantify until we are all running on track at the same time. It was useful to stay here for a long time, as we have a new V8, new aero configuration and different types of tyre and we definitely made progress. However, the other teams all know this circuit and it will not take them long to get the information they need. Also, when we were here, it was not as hot as we would have liked.
With many new untried cars on the tracks in Europe, there would be many problems and so the days would be interrupted by a lot of red flags, which made it hard to complete the programme. The opportunity to test freely here was very important for us."
Schumacher then moved on to talk about whether or not this testing was enough to ensure a good result this weekend:
"We have worked very hard and we certainly have improved the game, but then it's always the question, have we improved enough? It's something we will find out this weekend. As always we have had a long winter, a lot of talk, a lot of question marks and finally we answer them, in a way, at the first race. I think it will be closer this year."
