Takuma Sato out qualified Giancarlo Fisichella for only the second time this season, in what turned out to be a disappointing qualifying session for Jordan for tomorrow's European Grand Prix.
Giancarlo, finished the session in 18th place for the race tomorrow and realises that both he and the team have a lot of work to do to get the car into the best race trim possible. The car is suffering with understeer and particularly so in the new redesigned stadium section of the track. Thankfully, it's not Honda's new engine which is causing the problems.
Giancarlo:
"Clearly there is a problem because 18th is not our position." He seemed
quite disappointed with his performance, especially after his Canadian
qualifying session two weeks ago.
Takuma Sato was running as the top Honda powered driver until being pipped at
the post by BAR's Olivier Panis. Takuma needs one of his trademark flying
starts to leap up the grid before the end of the first lap. He also needs
to keep his head together and keep the car on the track especially given the
understeer problems. Hopefully the team can end up in the points.
As yet, there is little official comment from Eddie Jordan or Gary Anderson about the car's performance today.
