Jordan's financial woes took a step for the worse today when Hewlett Packard announced that they intend to withdraw their sponsorship of Jordan and Jaguar to concentrate on their deal with the Williams F1 team.
HP will continue to sponsor Jordan as per their current contract until the end of 2003. "We want to use F1 for building our brand and the vehicle for building our brand is the BMW-WilliamsF1 team." Said Andrew Collins, HP's director of corporate sponsorships and global F1. "'We're supporting Jordan and Jaguar as we are contracted to do so and as partners of ours historically we don't walk away." However when questioned about the renewal of contracts all he would say was "I can't say whether we will renew or not but it wouldn't be consistent."
Jordan have picked up a number of new and returning sponsors since the start of the season and hopefully, the loss of Hewlett Packard won't hit the team as hard at the withdrawal of Deutsche Post and DHL at the end of last season.
