Team boss Eddie Jordan chose a recent interview with The Guardian newspaper here in the UK to throw out suggestions that his team are in financial difficulties and are about to go under. The recent decision over the Brazil win will help according to the Irishman. As the season built up to it's openning climax in Melbourne this year, the F1 rumour mill (which basically had little else to talk about anyway) was rife with reports that Jordan and the Italian minows Minardi were in financial difficulty and that there were doubts as to whether both teams could last the 2003 season. The Jordan rumours became further fuelled once the new car was unveiled with huge yellow gaps on the bodywork, suggesting a distinct lack of sponsorship.

"Yes, we have had to get very disciplined with our finances," Eddie has been quoted as saying to The Guardian. "We have Giancarlo - one of the world's best drivers - a highly visible Ford presence and Warburg Pincus as major equity partners."

Jordan added. "These are serious people and they recognise Jordan’s value. We intend to honour their loyalty. I don’t think it's accurate to bracket us with Minardi, as so many have done."

Commenting on the recent decision to award the team the Brazilian GP win, the team boss admitted that it has ‘made a huge difference’. "I can’t deny that things have been extremely tight for us this year but we just shut up and got on with the job."
