Town defender Richard Naylor has backed the appointment of Jim Magilton as Town’s new manager.

Richard played along side Jim for seven years and says it will be strange seeing Jim as manager but it was the correct decision by the Town board.

 

Naylor: “I think anyone who has been in the dressing-room with Jim has felt that he would move into management, he has been the leader amongst the players for a few years now and is held in the highest regard by all of us. He has everyone's respect so from that point, he is in a strong position to make the transition from player to manager very smoothly.

 

“It's natural step up for him and I'm delighted to see him get the job and I'm sure he will give it 200 per cent.

 

“That's Jim. His enthusiasm for the game in general and Ipswich Town is unrivalled and I'm sure he will prove to be a good choice.”

 

Naylor also feels that promoting Bryan Klug was the right thing to do, adding: “I worked with Bryan when I first came to the Club and he was reserve team manager.

 

“He's a top coach and has the ability to spot your weaknesses and work on them to improve your game. I've no doubts that he has made me a better player and I'm sure Bryan and Jim will work well together.”
