Reaction from Town manager Joe Royle following Town’s 2-1 defeat against Plymouth at home park yesterday.

Joe: “I have no complaints over the scoreline. They were better than us on the day, we were physically weak in certain areas of the park because of the team we had to field. We missed Alan Lee's strength and Fabian Wilnis is our best full-back at stopping crosses coming in.

 

“Richard Naylor took a knock early on to his head and I think was slightly concussed and that didn't help us because we didn't defend well and gave away too bad goals.

 

“In a way that game has been indicative of our season, too many bad goals given away and too many players missing.

 

“We were missing players but I'm angry about the performance. A lot of people have travelled a long way to see a weak display and we have to be a lot better than that next season.

 

“We'll need a big improvement but I'm confident when we start again next year, with a full compliment of players, we'll be a match for anyone in this division.

 

“Shane Supple was outstanding for us.

 

“His save from Micky Evans when one on one was first class but it didn't surprise me. He's so fast across the ground in those situations and gets in the right place at the right time to make the save.”
