Ipswich Town manager Joe Royle says he may get a midfielder in on-loan as cover for the inured Ian Westlake.

The 21-year-old midfielder is out for up to six weeks after sustaining an ankle injury in training yesterday and Joe says he may get a loan player in after Saturday’s game against Sheffield United.

 

Royle: “We are looking at being without Ian for between four and six weeks, for Saturday's match at Sheffield United I plan to go with what we have.

 

“After the weekend I will look at whether we need to bring in a loan signing. We are well served number-wise in midfield as in any other position, but Ian has a unique part to play.

 

“He provides energy and legs and is the engine room from which we function and he is always liable to weigh in with a goal.”

 

Town are currently ‘blessed’ with midfield players, it’s the only position at the club with an depth at all, Jim Magilton, Darren Currie, Kevin Horlock and Owen Garvan, Jimmy Juan, Matt Richards, Jaime Peters and even Scott Mitchell now he’s nearly recovered from injury all able to play in the midfield.
