Ipswich Town’s reserve side could be playing four of their games at Needham Market FC’s Bloomfields ground to help protect the Portman Road pitch.

Needham chairman Nick Francis revealed today that both clubs are close to agreeing a deal that will see Town’s second string play four games at Bloomfields in January and February next year in effort to keep the pitch at Portman Road in good condition during the winter months.

Nick Francis: “The two clubs are still in discussions, but Ipswich Town have had a look at our facilities and are more than interested.

“A representative from the FA Premier Reserve League will come round to meet the required standard. Should our ground get the green light, then I would expect them to play four matches here.”

Woodbridge Town’s Notcutts Park was also considered to host the games.
