Ipswich Town striker Sam Parkin has urged fans not to compare him to former Town striker Shefki Kuqi.

Parkin said: “In some ways Shefki is not a bad player with whom to be compared. I have scored goals for the past three seasons but if I can get near to what he and Darren Bent scored in the Championship last season that would be great.

 

“But although we may be similar in stature, we are different types of players. He was more of an outlet, winning balls in the air more, whereas I like the ball on the floor more.”

 

Despite not scoring in ay of Towns 5 pre-season games so far Parkin is confident he will get goals when the season starts in 12 days, adding: “It's not something I am worrying about. My last couple of performances have been good and I'm feeling fit. It would be nice to get a goal of my own, but it is not so important scoring in pre-season games. The most important thing is to get goals once the real thing gets under way and I'm confident I shall.”
