Joe: No ‘keeper

Ipswich Town manager Joe Royle has denied having made any approach for any goalkeeper, although he has not ruled out bringing in another one.

After the sale of Kelvin Davis left Town with only one goalkeeper with first team experience and it was expected that another one would be signed to come in as first choice ‘keeper ahead of Lewis Price, but with Football league clubs allowed unlimited loans next year it now seems that Price will be number one with Supple on the bench and another ‘keeper brought in if either gets injured.

 

Royle said: “We have made no approach at all for any goalkeeper, but there are no plans cast in stone.

 

“There is a school of thought that says 'Let the young lads have a go' and I am happy to go along with that.

“That way it would would free up some of the money in our transfer budget to strengthen other areas of the squad.”
