‘Keepers Linked

According to reports in today’s tabloid news papers Ipswich Town are interested in signing two different goalkeepers from relegated teams.

Rotherham goalkeeper Mike Pollitt may leave Millmoor this summer as the relegated Millers try to keep the books balanced but he has a year left on his contract and there fore would command a fee and Rotherham have previously rejected a £200,000 bid from Nottingham Forest. Town would have to fight with Leeds and Wigan if they wish to sign the shot stopper.

Former Town loanee Paul Gerrard has also been linked with Town as relegated Nottingham Forest try to trim the fat although there is two quite sticky points which my scupper any move Town may wish to make for Paul, first of which is Forest currently only have one goalkeeper so Gary Megson may wish to hold onto him until a new goalkeeper is found and the second point is he would command a fee and although Joe Royle knows Paul well he may want to spend his money elsewhere on the pitch as Lewis Price is a capable first choice goalkeeper.
