Scowie Leaves

On-loan Leicester City striker James Scowcroft will not be pulling on a Town shirt again as Town manager Joe Royle has chosen not to give him a contract.

James joined Town on-loan from the Foxes back in February as cover for Shefki  Kuqi who was expected to miss a large chunk of the remaining season, but with Kuqi recovering faster than expected James found him self on the bench with only limited minutes on the pitch.

Royle could of extend Scowie’s loan to cover the play-off games but has decided against that idea.

Royle: “We have decided not to take up that option.

“James and I agree that we haven't seen the best of him while he has been here.

“In his defence, he has not had that many starting opportunities with Shefki Kuqi coming back from injury sooner rather than we expected.

“We also have Dean Bowditch back from Burnley now so we have options in attack.

“I'd like to wish Scowie well. He is a lovely lad and I hope it works out well for him wherever his future lies.”
