Ipswich Town manager Joe Royle believes that Town can overtake Wigan in the final two games of the season.
Wigan need four points from their final two games (away at Preston and home against Reading) to secure promotion while Town need to win their final games (Crewe at home and Brighton away) and hope Wigan lose one game, but Royle believes it can be done.
Royle: “We're now down to a two-game season, I'd rather be in Wigan's
position - they only need four points to make sure of going straight up while we
need six.
“But they will know they cannot afford to slip up. If they do,
we must make sure we are in a position to take full advantage.”
“I have
heard people trying to make a case for us being in a better position now than we
were before the weekend games.
“However, the way I see it we now have one
game less to play as we try to catch Wigan. I think they are in a better
position, but it could change.”
