Ipswich Town academy Director Bryan Klug was pleased with Town’s U18 sides FA Youth Cup win against the Spurs Youth side last night.

Town’s U18s gave them selves a great chance of reaching the FA Youth Cup final after a 2-0 win against the Spurs side (report to come) in the first leg of their semi-final and Klug couldn’t be happier with the result

Klug: “We showed enough tonight to deserve our victory. We know we can play better than this but then Spurs will feel they can too. If they were to score the first goal on Wednesday it really would be game on.

“It was what we expected tonight, a very tough, competitive match.

“It was an exciting game, not filled with goalmouth action but with enough to keep everybody interested and with quality from both teams. The lads will look forward to playing at White Hart Lane as Spurs did and enjoyed playing on a good pitch here. We'll be going there with a positive outlook and trying to win the game – not defend a 2-0 lead.

“We didn't play as well as we have in some games but you had to allow for the quality of the opposition. They started better than we did, but once we settled and got to grips with certain things we did well.

“Some of our football was very good at times. We have some very good players here and the fans saw that tonight.”
