A combination of Town’s under 14 and 15 teams finished runners-up in the Nike Cup at Warwick University this week.
The Town youngsters beat a number of premier league teams on route to final where they lost against Arsenal.
Academy coach Tony Humes: “The boys played four group matches of 40 minutes each over two days which was testing enough for them, we came through that with two wins and two draws and then went on to beat Middlesbrough and Manchester City in the Quarter-Final and Semi-Final before going down 2-0 in the Final.
“It was a great experience for the boys and they really conducted themselves well during the competition.
“It wasn't just the results that pleased us either, it was the manner of the football the boys played.
“They really knocked the ball around well in true Ipswich Town style against opposition of a good standard that included mainly Premiership clubs so they can be very proud of what they achieved.”
