Richards Enjoying Role

Ipswich Town defender Matt Richards says he is enjoying his new role as a wing back rather than his usual left back.

The 20-year-old was missing from the field for 10 games before Town played Wigan at the start of the month and has been present ever since in a 3-5-2 formation playing as a wing back a position which he is enjoying.

Richards: “I still have some defensive responsibilities but playing wing-back allows me to get forward more, so I enjoy it a lot.

“With David Unsworth behind me, it helps me a lot and I have then got licence to attack a lot more and get onto the opposition's box.

“I have a lot of energy and a big part of my game is getting up and down the pitch, so this system suits me and the team is benefiting too.”
