Richards After His Spot

Ipswich Town defender Matt Richards is hoping to reclaim his spot as Town’s first choice left back.

Matt who has been out of the first team picture over the last month or so thanks partially to the arrival of David Unsworth on-loan from Portsmouth and Danny Karbassiyoon from Arsenal, but it was the suspension of a centre back, Jason De Vos which gave him the chance to play in Saturday’s game against Wigan.

Richards: “I was delighted to be selected for the Wigan game but I also realised that I had to go out there and show that all the hard work that I had put in over the last two months had worked, I had to prove I am more than capable of playing in that position and that it was my position.

“The result didn't go our way and we were all disappointed with that obviously but I was quite happy with my own performance.

“The other lads said I'd played well and the coaches were also very positive, which was nice to hear. Now I've got to show that I can continue to play at that level on a regular basis.”
