Ipswich Town striker Dean Bowditch has today joined Championship side Burnley on a months loan deal.

Ipswich Town striker Dean Bowditch has today joined Championship side Burnley on a months loan deal.

The 18-year-old striker recently signed a contract extension with Town keeping him at Portman road until 2008, Dean has been mainly used a substitute this season and has obviously been disappointed with his lack of first team opportunities at Portman Road.

Town manager Joe Royle has said: “Dean needs first-team football to take him on to the next level and he has not been getting much of that here lately, Oldham came in for him and we were happy for him to join them but he wasn't too keen because he didn't want to drop down a division.

“Now Burnley have approached us and Dean will be joining them for a month.

“He spoke to me about going out on loan a while back and I agreed that it would be a good move for him if the right club came along and we all hope he does well at Burnley and gets a few goals.

“That's what he needs now, first-team experience and a couple of goals to his name.”

Dean’s manager for the next month, Steve Cotterill added: "“He is a good, young and very exciting player, we are looking forward to seeing him in our team and adding him to the squad.

“He hasn't had too many opportunities to shine this season, but hopefully we can see him shine here over the next few weeks.”

Earlier today Dean turned the chance to join league one side Oldham.
