Royle’s Reaction: QPR

Reaction from Ipswich Town manager Joe Royle following today’s 2-0 defeat against Queens Park Rangers at Portman Road.

Royle: “Kelvin has put his hands up for their goals, he's the best kicker in the business and it's the first time that one of his kicks had led to a goal.

“For the second one, he called for the ball so the defenders haven't gone with the runner and Kelvin accepts it's his fault.

“But there are no recriminations against Kelvin because he has been fantastic for us since he's been here.

“Giving the goal away so early made it difficult for us but we never really threatened at the other end of the park.

“Collectively our front players are not having the best of times at the moment but I was disappointed that we had one or two players out there who didn't want the ball when things were going against us.

“We had a chat after the game and it's important now that the players keep their nerve and remain strong.

“We work all week on passing the ball and then when we're out on the park and things go wrong and the fans start to get frustrated, we had some players going missing.

“But we're still joint top and need a big performance against Wigan next week.”
