Ipswich Town manager Joe Royle has praised the Town defence after today’s 2-0 against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane.

Royle: “It's nice to be clear but there is a long way to go yet so we are not getting carried away, we didn't play particularly well but our back four were outstanding and Kelvin made two terrific saves as well.

“We were under an aerial bombardment at the end but we coped with it well and that's very pleasing because it has been a weakness for us before.

“It was probably the best we have defended those sort of situations in my time here but apart from our defence and 'keeper, we weren't that impressive and certainly never passed the ball like we are capable of.

“Jim Magilton tried his best to get us going and was the best of the other players outside the back five but we never really clicked.

“That said Bramall Lane is never an easy place to come to. There's an intimidating atmosphere and you have to deal with it. We did and have ended up with the three points and that's what counts at the end.”
