A few words from Ipswich Town chairman David Sheepshanks after Town’s 2-1 victory over Wigan Athletic at Portman Road.

Mr Sheepshanks: “Psychologically it was important to win that came and especially to come back from such a wonder strike; it just shows the extraordinary spirit that just runs right through the team and through every member of this Club, everyone knows that nothing is won today; this is the first game of the second half of the season but we've won and we've won in front of a full house - it was a fantastic performance. Wigan are a good side and they are spirited but how many chances did we have? Everyone saw Ipswich at their best.”

The Town chairman also wished Town fans a merry Christmas, adding: “I would like to wish all our magnificent supporters a very happy Christmas; it's been an extraordinary year and the ship has turned round and we've got some momentum; our goal is in sight. We're top and let's hope we can continue in this way on Boxing Day and I hope to see everyone back at Portman Road against Stoke on the 28^th December. Happy Christmas everyone.”
