Ipswich Town goalkeeper Lewis Price has been loaned out to League Two side Cambridge United for a month.

Ipswich Town goalkeeper Lewis Price has been loaned out to League Two side Cambridge United for a month.

Price has joined Cambridge who currently sit 23rd in league two, in time to play Rushden and Diamonds on Saturday.

Town manager Joe Royle has said a loan move for Price would of come sooner if Kelvin Davis had not injured his back, saying: “It's the next step forward for Lewis and we have been actively trying to loan him out for much of the season, we couldn't let him go when Kelvin was injured but now he's back and with Shane Supple here as well, we are in a position where Lewis can go out and gain some more first-team experience.

“He will join up with Cambridge this week but part of the deal means we can bring him back immediately if anything happens to Kelvin.”

Price is regular in the Town reserve side and the Welsh under21 squad but has only managed to play in 9 first team games for town most of which came whilst Davis was out injured.
