Royle’s Reaction: Leeds

Ipswich Town manager Joe Royle believes an improved second half performance from Town is what gave Ipswich the win over Leeds today.

Royle: “We weren't at it in the first-half and couldn't get going but we improved after the break and just about deserved the win, we switched the formation with Dean Bowditch going on and that gave us three up front and that stretched them a bit.

“The goal wasn't the best Darren will score but it was just as important to us as the 25 yarder he scored at Burnley last week.

“There are going to be a lot more tight games like that to come at Portman Road this season as well but we are level at the top now and there is a little gap appearing behind us as well.”

Leeds United boss Kevin Blackwell feels that Leeds “were worth a point” and tipped Town for a top two finish, saying: “It was always going to be a tough game for us against a team that I believe will be up there at the top come the end of the season, maybe even in the automatic places, they came at us strongly in the second-half as we expected would happen but overall I felt we were worth a point.”
