Give The Lads A Break Ipswich Town captain Jim Magilton has called for the unhappy fans that turn out to watch Ipswich to give the young players in the side a break.

The 34 year who him self has received a lot of criticism this season would much rather the fans got on his back than the younger players such as Ian Westlake and Matt Richards.

Jim has said that “I don't blame the fans. I've been on the receiving end of some of the stick, along with a few of the other lads. That's no problem to me. I'm not going to say I liked it, but I'll take it on the chin and get on with doing my best for the team.”

But that is the voice of hardened pro who has seen ups and downs over the years and can take it, but for players like Richards having 20,000 or more fans on your back its not a nice feeling and they cannot cope with it. Magilton added that “The supporters pay good money to watch us play and they are entitled to their opinions. But if they are going to voice their disapproval then it's better that it comes my way than be aimed at the kids in the team. I've been in this game a long time and I won't let a bit of stick intimidate me.”
