Town's first home game of the New Year comes against Billy Davies Nottingham Forest side tomorrow afternoon.
Gareth McAuley is a doubt for Town as two games in three days maybe too much for his achilles, Shane O'Connor and Brian Murphy are out.
Keane: "I see Forest as one of the contenders for promotion again this season, I'd been very surprised if they are not up there again. They've got goals in their team with four or five attacking players who know how to put the ball in the net.
"We saw that at Portman Road last year when we were in control of the game and a goal up and they brought on Rob Earnshaw and Dele Adebola and that changed the match.
"I know Billy is after adding to his squad as well and they will be up there come the end of the season.
"We will change things around, we have to, Gareth (McAuley) is an important player for us and we took a gamble and threw him in against Coventry and he did well.
"He seemed to come through the game okay but often a reaction comes later so we will have to see how he is but two games in three days is probably too much for him.
"Mark Kennedy comes into it. He's just come back from injury and couldn't play in both games but obviously he didn't feature against Coventry. Lads like Damien (Delaney) and Troy (Brown) could come into it as well.
"We will freshen things up but whoever plays we will be ready."
Forest are expected to be without Ryan Bertrand and David McGoldrick while Paul McKenna is suffering with a virus.
