Sadie still can't make it to games, but looking at some of our ticket prices maybe thats not such a bad thing. Single match ticket prices

Today whilst sitting in my chair (still) my boredom took me to MSN articles. After reading some crap presentation of a bunch of pointless movies and what some old ‘C-list' stars from the 90's are up to today I came across something that actually interested me, yet again about Football.

As mentioned yesterday the price of the season ticket was just too much for someone like me to be able to keep going, but what about single match ticket prices?

Well MSN done their research of the SPL and our English Premier League, looking for the cheapest ticket each Club has to offer, I found this Very interesting indeed, especially finding out where Ipswich Towns cheapest ticket would slot into that list.

Ipswich Town have 3 different prices for every age group in every area of the ground which they select how they see fit according to grades, now I'm guessing ‘C grade' are when teams nobody cares about come to Town and the outcome of the game is no big deal, either that or cup games. ‘B grade' maybe the average game, and ‘A' for visits from rival teams or when there is a lot riding on the game. These are just simply guesses as nowhere on the club website does it explain this system, all I know is that all 3 up coming home games advertised on the site come in the ‘B grade' where the cheapest adult ticket is £26 or £28.50 if purchased on the day of the match.

So it looks like more often than not £26 is the cheapest adult ticket and even when that ‘C graded' game might come along you're only saving £1, what's that going to to do for you, a golden gamble ticket perhaps, as the last I remember you'd be lucky to get a chocolate bar or a packet of crisps from the kiosks with that, maybe one or the other but certainly not both and absolutely no chance of a bottle of water at half time to relieve that sore throat from all the yelling and screaming, I mean cheering!

So how does Ipswich's £25(C)/26(B) fair against the teams in the SPL?

Remember we are looking at the cheapest Adult match day ticket bought in advance.
There are 12 teams in the Scottish Premier League 6 of which have tickets prices below £20, with just 1 of the 12 comparing to Ipswich, that is Celtic at £25, the closest after that being Rangers with the cheapest adult ticket priced at £23.

What about the English Premier League?

Ipswich Town's Cheapest ticket is only cheaper than the 8 teams expected to be positioned towards the top of the league. These teams are Everton, Spurs, Fulham, Manchester UTD, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City where the standard of football played is much closer to matching the price paid.

When you consider I could get 2 weeks of shopping with £25, I couldn't quite bring myself to justify that purchase for 90 minutes of, in my opinion, more fumbling around than two teenage lovers, home alone with the light off.

I suppose when things are that bad they can really only get better, and I whole heartedly hope, this is the season where things do only get better.
