Ferguson: Concert Fine By Me

Town’s head groundsman Alan Ferguson says Portman Road staging a concert this summer would have no effect on the state of the pitch. The Eagles were reportedly lined up to play a concert at Portman Road in the summer, but talks reportedly broke down this week after a disagreement between Town and the concert organisers about who would pay for pitch repairs but Alan Ferguson says the pitch should be fine, concert or not.

Ferguson: "Whatever happens, the pitch will still be a great surface to play football on, a concert would be an inconvenience I could do without. But I would have no worries about it going ahead.

"We had one bad close-season experience, but this was down to heat stress caused by an exceptionally hot summer rather than the effects of a concert.

"We would be able to deal with a concert, and I accept that the club conducts its business to maximum effect."
