Top of the Table Test

John Gorman is looking for Town to bounce back from the defeat by Southampton when Blues take on Championship leaders Wolves tonight.
Town are 10th in the table and six points off the Play-Off places but results went the Club's way at the weekend with Blues now having a game in hand on sixth placed Preston. "The results at the weekend gave everyone a little lift but that is this league," John told Ipswich World. "On any given day, the bottom team can beat the top one. There is no club really running away with it like Reading a few years back. That said, Wolves are in a very good position and we know they are a good side. "I saw them play at Sheffield Wednesday at the weekend, they scored a good goal early on and held out for the points but Sheffield had their chances. "They are not invincible and we have to go to Molineux, where we know it's going to be tough and respond to the occasion. They are going to come out all guns blazing, backed by their fans and we have to dig in and not give away any silly goals like we have done recently. "The players know they can play a lot better than they did against Southampton last week and we've got to look to bounce back from that and get back to winning ways." John doesn't see it as a must win match but he does accept that this is a crucial week for Blues, with a visit to Reading on Saturday to come. "There are getting fewer games left so that's why the talk of 'must win' games comes up," adds Town's assistant manager. "That has been one of the problems. A draw - which is the least we deserved - at Preston would have been okay. We know we didn't perform against Southampton but if you can nick a point when you have not played well, that's not a bad result either. "But this is a big week obviously, with two very difficult away games and we will have some idea of where we are at 5pm on Saturday. "It looks on paper as though we are chasing that sixth place with a number of clubs but you just never know in football, anything can happen - especially in this division and there is certainly belief and determination in the camp that we can get in there." Town will be missing skipper Gareth McAuley, who is suspended with the likes of Richard Wright, David Wright and Tommy Miller among the contenders to take on the armband. Ben Thatcher and Danny Haynes are both included in the Town squad after recovering from injury but Moritz Volz is still out with a groin problem. Wolves have a worry over hamstring victim Michael Kightly but Ryan Jarvis and Kyel Reid are likely to be fit. Skipper Karl Henry is suspended while goalkeeper Matt Murray and full-back George Elokobi are both still sidelined with long term injuries. Source: ITFC.co.uk
