Report: Town 3-0 Chesterfield

Town booked their place in the fourth round of The FA Cup, seeing off League Two side Chesterfield at Portman Road earlier today. Town made two changes from the side that beat Derby last weekend, Moritz Volz and Kevin Lisbie both being dropped from the 16 with David Wright and Pablo Counago coming in.
Chesterfield striker Jamie Ward proved to be a handful for McAuley and Campo in the middle of defence as neither could keep up with his pace. Ward had the first chance of the game on 11 minutes, sending a left footed shot from 20-yards towards goal only for Richard Wright to push the ball round the post.
The first change of the afternoon was made just 18 minutes into the game, referee Keith Hill was replaced by the fourth official.
Town's first effort on goal came when Jon Walters headed goal-wards from just inside the area, which was easily dealt with by Tommy Lee in the Chesterfield goal.
Town lost Tommy to a injury on the half hour, forcing Town manager Jim Magilton into a change, Danny Haynes going to the right side of midfield moving David Norris into the centre of midfield.
Tommy Lee was once again on hand to deny Walters after the Town striker had been put clean through on goal in the 34th minute.
Shumulikoski picked up his fifth booking of the season was then booked for a foul on Lloyd Kerry.
Danny Haynes came close in the 40th minute with a thunderous shot that Lee parried before the Chesterfield defence managed to scramble the ball away.
Scott Boden was denied a shot on goal by Ivan Campo after Chesterfield had broken quickly. Alan Quinn had a tame effort on goal as the half drew to a close.
Town took the lead just 4 minutes into the second half, Phil Picken swatted the ball with his arm in the area and the referee awarded a penalty, which Jon Walters was happy to convert, blasting the ball into the roof of the net.
Chesterfield nearly pulled themselves level just a few moments later, Jamie Ward found himself unmarked just a few yards from goal but fired into the arms of Richard Wright.
Town extended their advantage in the 53rd minute, Danny Haynes crossed in from the right hand side, onto the head of Quinn who could only find a defender before the ball bounced to Counago 6 yards from goal, the Spaniard of cause found the back of the net for his 7th goal of the season.
Town back off with the second goal now secure and did start to pass the ball around abit, but it didn't stop them going for a third goal which Jon Stead was unfortunate not to have got in the 66th minute but he did get in the 87th when he powered the ball into the back of the net from 18-yards.
